Why We Fight

A few shots of the climax of the raid on Fickmuhlen.
Much happiness here with regards to the look of the thing.
von Browne's Foot in reserve under the watchful eye of the general himself.
The Dragoons, awaiting their role as spoilers.
 The damned, useless guns.
Many, many thanks to Ross and Stokes for helping make this battle possible. Happy New Year to us all.

Now that's a proper wargame. Thanks for sharing.

It was great fun! I wonder how General von Tschatschke will explain away his failure to capture the village to the Grand Duke?

And the Spencer Smiths still have a unique charm all their own in (late) 2015.

Wonderful, thanks for the photos.

One has to feel some sympathy for von Tschatschke, notwithstanding his well-known deficiencies of character and military expertise, trying to take a village with a predominantly mounted force. It seems to me that the bibulous buffoon's only hope was to intercept the enemy infantry before they reached the buildings and, having failed to do so, he was doomed.

But he dresses well at least!

Hello Steve,

Agreed it was a toughie to win.

Von Tschatschke tried to be a Murat when in a more Frederician mode he might have concentrated his cavalry against Ross's and potentially rolled up his line.

I put it down to the fine Alzheimer Lager. We shall rename him General von Boozy, methinks.

All the best,

Greg

Delightful looking, but tell us more of the action, the aims and outcomes! Eye-candy alone is not enough! For all the beauty of the "modern" figures I still enjoy the charm of the old styles.
